Is there an internet consensus on Feeder? I don’t mean critically, I mean in that way that so many bands have some kind of automatic reaction attached to them. I never see these guys mentioned any more. Maybe they’ve just been forgotten. Pity. As far as I’m concerned, Comfort in Sound and Echo Park are both classic noughties albums.
‘Just The Way I’m Feeling’ is one of the best ways to open an album - an instantly memorable guitar strum, gradually built upon. Hearing it immediately brings back memories. I don’t even mean any specific memories - it just feels like a naturally nostalgic song. The lyrics help too.
You feel the moment’s gone too soon,
You’re watching clouds come over you.The fact that this song is followed up by the more purposeful, driving ‘Come Back Around’ just emphasises the wistfulness.
…Actually, I don’t care on the consensus. I’ll always love these guys.
